Montse Irun Chavarria

Montse Irun Chavarria got a degree in English Philology at the University of Barcelona in 1985 and a master degree in teaching and learning English at the University Autònoma of Barcelona in 1994. Since 1985 she has been a secondary school teacher for the Catalan Education Department and a senior teacher since 2008. In 1995 she became a teacher at the English Department in the University of Lleida, where she teaches English Language, Applied Linguistics, and English Language Learning. Her research focuses on EFL learning and evaluating and CLIL methodology. More specifically she is into Project based learning in EFL and in content learning (CLIL), language and communication reflection and the Integration of languages as a learning strategy, and intercultural communicative competence.

She is part of the teacher training staff in the Departament d’Ensenyament de la Generalitat de Catalunya where she has developed programmes such as the introduction of the Education Reform in 1992, oral language, reflective practice, evaluation, and project based learning.

She has been the English vice-coordinator for the University Entrance Exam since 1999. She is the author of several textbooks to teach English, more than 40 articles in magazines and specialised books and contributes regularly in conferences in Catalonia and Spain.
